Connecting people, changing lives: Our partnership in the Maasai Mara, Kenya.

The big picture

The Maasai Mara region and its people face a number of challenges that threaten their cultural heritage and their way of life. Addressing them requires a multi-faceted approach and a deep collaborative effort led from within. It is crucial for a collaborative effort led from within the community, supported by Elev-Eight to find culturally appropriate and sustainable solutions with the importance of empowering the Maasai Mara people. Promoting development and preserving the cultural heritage of the Maasai Mara.

The goal

The goal for the Maasai Mara tribe is to promote sustainable growth, preserve their cultural heritage and enhance the quality of life for all members. We aim to achieve this through our 8 ways to elevate program. By collaborating with the community, finding local solutions driven from within, we are promoting innovation as well as facilitating the tools needed to support self-sustainability through entrepreneurship. By forming new partnerships, the tribe is empowered with a range of options and opportunities, enabling them to shape their own future.

How it works:

We believe in transformation through the art of doing, therefore we have created an impact model that enables you to directly and personally make a difference in the lives of the Maasai Mara community. By combining funding with your skills, passions, and knowledge, you will create a lasting and meaningful impact. Our approach is broken down into three phases, providing you with the opportunity to join us and be a part of the change you want to see in the world. By participating in each phase, you will form personal connections with the community and together, transform lives for the better. Join us in this journey to create a brighter future for the Maasai Mara.

Partnership

Through our 8 ways of elevation, our team of specialists are working in collaboration with the Maasai Mara tribe to develop innovative solutions to their challenges. The tribe have identified these key areas from our eight: access to technology and learning opportunities, promoting regenerative agriculture, supporting eco-tourism and empowering social entrepreneurship, as a priority.  This is our framework to create a holistic, bespoke project with the tribe leading the way, we believe that lasting impact can be made, ensuring a brighter future for generations to come.

Our project manager, Legis, will receive personalised mentorship and training in project management skills, as well as the tools and support needed to become computer literate and more. This will be extended to other key members of the community as we identify them, in the areas of learning, technology, regenerative agriculture, and social entrepreneurship. By building a strong foundation of knowledge and skills within the community, we aim to promote sustainable and culturally appropriate solutions that can help the Maasai Mara tribe to elevate and reach their full potential.

If you are not able to join us in Kenya, we have created alternative ways you can be part of elevating the community. Your purchase from our marketplace, whether it be a cow or one of their beautifully crafted artisanal products, will directly benefit the tribe and support their growth in these critical areas.
