Ways we support Amaya:

Because trade is more dignifying than aid.

About Amaya for Africa

Amaya for Africa was founded with a mission to empower and uplift marginalised individuals in rural Ghana. The charity combines Ghanaian and UK fashion influences and focuses on equipping, training, and empowering local people, both male and female, to learn a trade and provide them with a sustainable source of income. This can help reduce extreme poverty and improve living conditions in these communities.

By fostering economic and creative opportunities, Amaya aims to enhance the lives of individuals, families, and communities. The charity encourages its makers to reinvest their income to drive development, educate their families, and break the cycle of poverty. Amaya plants the seeds of possibility and nurtures them to grow, bringing hope and brighter prospects to those in need.

By providing the necessary resources, Amaya for Africa empowers rural communities in Ghana to turn their crafting skills and passions into livelihoods.

Colorful Threads

Partnership

Our "ethical marketplace," gives the Amaya makers a platform to showcase their talent and share their stories with the world. Our platform gives for makers and artisans a way to sell their products and retain 100% of the profits. This way they can reinvest in their own businesses and communities. The makers can create a positive impact and transform their lives and communities through social entrepreneurship.

As part of the "EIGHT" initiative, Amaya's founder, Letitia, receives 1:1 coaching to improve her mental and physical wellbeing and explore ways to expand Amaya's outreach, both locally and internationally. Amaya for Africa remains committed to best practices, transparency, and accountability, with the needs of the makers in Ghana always being the top priority.

Amaya for Africa aims to increase the visibility of the incredible products and support more Ghanaian artisanal makers in elevating their lives. Together, we are promoting entrepreneurship, creating economic opportunities, and supporting local communities. Resulting in elevating self-esteem and creating a sense of dignity and independence.
